Refs blow call, Rutgers goes home

By Dan Rodgers

I don't know if anyone saw this game because it wasn't a very "big" game. However, the end of the game was one of the most ridiculous I've ever seen.

There were numorous non-calls in the final minute or two; including reach-ins and over-the-back. Not to mention a few times the ball was knocked out of bounds and it was given to the wrong team, and the correct call looked obvious.

The most controversial thing happened at the very end of the game. With only a few seconds left, Rutgers was down two and tried a long inbounds pass. The pass got batted away and someone from St. John's picked it up, traveled with it, and then stepped out of bounds and threw the ball into the crowd. He traveled with a little over two seconds left and stepped out of bounds with 1.7 seconds left.

Rutgers should have had the ball at about half-court for a chance to tie/win. Unfortunately for Rutgers, the referees didn't make the call and the game was over.

This is absolutely terrible. This group of refs shouldn't be allowed to ref another game this season.
