I Hate March Madness

By Dan Rodgers

March Madness is beyond ridiculous. Anyone can beat anyone, my bracket is shot to hell, and I might as well not even write about anything. Clearly Duke sucks and Zona dominated the entire game.

I will only write about Ohio State and maybe Kansas from now on, but with my luck they will both go down tomorrow. All I have to say about the rest of the tournament is that Ohio State is far and above any other team. They have way too many playmakers and too much talent to lose to any of these other teams...but what do I know...

Sweet Sixteen - Thursday/Late

By Dan Rodgers

So I'm really pissed that BYU got destroyed in overtime. They were outscored by 9 in overtime after being awesome the whole game and keeping it close.

Duke is facing Arizona right now and I expect Duke to do work tonight because Arizona barely escaped Texas and Duke is way better. They can shoot the ball like no other. Williams will have to have the game of his career for Zona to have a chance.

I hope Duke kills them since Zona beat Texas.

Wisconsin faces Butler in an interesting matchup. Butler is so hot right now and coming off of a huge win against top seeded Pittsburgh. I would definitely stay away from this game in terms of betting. If you're going to then you should definitely tease the game...

I'm still upset about BYU and don't feel like writing more...ugh

Sweet Sixteen - Thursday/Early

By Dan Rodgers

The first slate of games in the Sweet Sixteen is currently underway. Both two seeds are facing three seeds.

I have both three seeds winning their games in my bracket. That's kind of irrelevant because my bracket sucks, but nonetheless I might as well root for the teams I picked.

UConn, who was a point and a half underdog going into the game tonight, is up eight points with under four minutes to play. San Diego State has been playing them tough the entire game and there have been so many lead changes. SDST cut the lead to five and is shooting free throws. I still like UConn to win though. UPDATE: UConn

The other game is BYU vs. Florida. Jimmer is amazing and has kept BYU in the game by himself, he has 32 of BYU's 68 points. Time for overtime. Good thing I teased the game to BYU +7.

I'll write again in like 15 minutes.

NFL, still a man's game?

By Dan Rodgers

The NFL owners just approved a rule change...that's never a good thing.

The rule moves kickoffs from 30 yard-line to the 35. If you're not a huge football fan then you have no idea the kind of impact this will have on the game. Not to mention, a touchback is still only put at the 20 yard-line. So the kicking team just gained a huge advantage.

I know they are trying to protect player safety, but the owners want an 18 game schedule and that isn't safe. Basically, teams with good return teams (i.e. Bears, Browns, Jets, Seahawks) will be at a huge disadvantage. Not to mention, return specialists like Brad Smith, Devin Hester and Leon Washington become much less valuable.

Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff tied the record for the most touchbacks in a single season this past season. This coming season, whether it's this year or whenever, he and possibly other kickers will shatter that record. Every kickoff that was at the goal line or a yard or two deep in the endzone will now be five to seven yards deep and most likely be touchbacks.

This will also help the defense because there will be more touchbacks and more drives starting from the 20 yard-line.

There isn't much to debate because the rule change has already been implemented. It's just interesting because teams will be changing how they spend their money.
